About AMMPS

AMMPS is a multi-functional ESA data platform built by Compliance Services International to make species data more accessible, automate risk assessments, and streamline regulatory evaluations.

What is AMMPS?

The Avoidance, Minimization, and other Measures for Protecting Species (AMMPS) platform is designed to support Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance workflows by making ESA species data, risk automation, and outreach more accessible across a variety of tools:

  • ESA Toolbox : Uses EPA assessments' species data to provide early indications of ESA risk for future pesticide actions
  • BE Explorer : Tracks determinations across ESA consultations
  • Species Explorer : Provides searchable views of all listed species and range sizes
  • Resource Hub : Shares ESA outreach materials and label change summaries

How Did AMMPS Start?

AMMPS originated in 2018 as a collaborative project between Compliance Services International (CSI) and Syngenta Crop Protection focused on ESA listed species and agricultural pesticides in Hawaii. Over time, its scope expanded nationally to address all ESA-listed species and pesticide use patterns. The platform evolved with continued feedback from EPA, USFWS, NMFS, and USDA, and officially launched in August 2023 as a web-based tool.

What’s Next for AMMPS?

AMMPS continues to evolve with new datasets, tools, and workflows. Originally developed to evaluate ESA risk from pesticides, the platform’s flexibility enables it to adapt to shifting policy, scientific methods, and agency priorities. Future updates will continue to support both regulatory submissions and broader conservation efforts.
